Starquest Maritime Recruitment Services. adheres to the guidelines outlined in the ILO Maritime Labor Convention 2006 (MLC 2006) concerning Seafarer Recruitment & Placement Services. Following an audit conducted by ———–, Starquest has been certified as compliant with regulation 1.4 of the MLC.
Fee Structure and Candidate Expenses:
In accordance with these directives, we do not levy charges on candidates for our services. Our fees are borne by the cruise lines that engage our candidates. Candidates may assume responsibility for expenses such as passport fees, medical examinations, mandatory training, and travel to the designated vessel.
Prohibition of Candidate Fees:
It is imperative to underscore that Starquest strictly prohibits the solicitation of fees from candidates, and we strongly advise our recruiters against making any such requests. Should any candidate encounter such a request, we urge them to expeditiously notify us (HERE), delineating the nature of the solicitation.
Support Services:
While we do not engage in chargeable administrative services such as ‘form filling’, Starquest is committed to providing guidance and support to candidates as they navigate their application processes, without incurring any associated charges.
Compliance and Safeguarding:
With regard to compliance with the MLC 2006, Starquest defers to the policies and procedures stipulated by maritime employers. Nevertheless, we maintain an unwavering commitment to safeguarding candidates against exploitation and ensuring equitable treatment throughout the engagement process.
Transparency and Validation:
Our practices eschew the use of mechanisms or lists designed to obstruct candidates from securing employment opportunities commensurate with their qualifications. Moreover, we endeavor to address inquiries from seafarers’ families promptly and compassionately, at no cost. Furthermore, we undertake measures to validate the authenticity of all mandatory certificates and documents submitted for employment, thereby ensuring adherence to compliance standards and fostering transparency in our processes.
